Roger Leon Gower, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, has passed away at the age of 78. Born on February 7, 1946, in Robinson, IL, he peacefully left this world on June 10, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Mt. Zion, IL. His life was a tapestry of dedication, service, and love, woven with the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
His formative years were spent in Hutsonville, IL, where he was a standout athlete in basketball and baseball, graduating from Hutsonville High School in 1964. Shortly after, he began his career at Caterpillar but soon answered the call to serve his country. From 1965 to 1969, Roger proudly wore the uniform of the U.S. Air Force, with whom he was stationed at various locations, including a stint overseas at Wheelus Air Base in Libya, before being honorably discharged as a sergeant. Following his service, he returned to Caterpillar, dedicating over three decades as a machinist before retiring in 1995.
